Utilizing Equine Frozen Semen
Description:
Practical study of the practices associated with utilizing frozen-thawed semen in the breeding of horses.
(Note: For training in how to freeze semen, see the Freezing Stallion Semen School).
Lectures (3.5 hrs):
Overview & keys to success Preliminary steps & procedural guidelines Costs associated with frozen-thawed semen Frozen-thawed semen research (fertility, packaging, etc.) Mare management (pre-breeding assessment, hormone & Shipping procedures, receiving & storing frozen semen Frozen-thawed semen breeding contracts
Demonstration Lab (0.5 hr):
Equipment, containers & supplies
Hands-on Labs (3 hrs):
Thawing procedures & assessing semen motility Inseminating the mare
Time: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Enrollment: Minimum 2 (Ramona), 3 (Off-Site)

Course Fee: $175 per participant
(Ramona) $145 for 2nd person - spouse or farm assistant
Course Fee: Varies by Location due to Dr. Kubiak's travel expenses
