This hands-on workshop will provide the participant with the skills necessary to perform uterine flushes and deep horn insemination. Uterine flushes are sometimes used during estrus to enhance fertility, to treat uterine infection and, in some cases, to clear post-insemination inflammatory fluid. Deep horn insemination, although not essential for inseminating frozen semen, is sometimes beneficial for mares with low fertility.
Participation in the Utilizing Equine Frozen Semen School AND previous equine breeding experience including the insemination of mares is strongly recommended.
