Foaling Management School 

Description:

Practical study of the management practices associated with pregnancy, foaling and care of the newborn foal.

Lectures:
  • Prepartum management
  • Peripartum complications
  • Predicting parturition
  • Normal foaling
  • Difficult birth (dystocia)
  • Normal neonatal period
  • Colostrum & immunity
  • Postpartum neonatal complications
  • Postpartum mare complications
  • Foal health care
Demonstration Labs (4 hours):
  • Items in a foaling kit
  • Milking a mare & using the milk test strip
  • Using the colostrometer & storing colostrum
  • Assessing the completeness of a placenta
Time: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Enrollment: Maximum 10 participants
Course Fee:
$125 per participant
$  90 for 2nd person - spouse or farm assistant

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED
